Personal Equipment Needs

Personal Equipment Needs

The equipment needs for each athlete will vary according to the league and the position or positions the athlete will play.  At a minimum, all baseball and softball players will need a fielder's glove, game pants, and cleats.  Please click here for more equipment needs.  Here are are more details:

  1. Fielders Glove:  If you are purchasing a new glove for the season and the athlete is young, we recommend an inexpensive medium-sized glove.  The reason we recommend inexpensive is that the expensive gloves have a higher quality leather and it will take a lot longer to break in the glove.  An inexpensive glove will be more flexible upon purchase and much easier to use immediately.
  2. Game Pants.  You probably can't go wrong with a pair of white pants but we recommend you wait until the coach tells you the color they want for the whole team.  Don't forget the belt.  Ask the coach what color the belt should be.
  3. Uniform:  We supply the jersey for each team.  More about Jerseys.
  4. Cleats:  They must be rubber cleats for players in all leagues below the Senior League.  Senior League players can wear steel spikes.
  5. Hats:  All Lyndon Baseball players will be assigned hats.  Hats are optional for softball players.
  6. Batting Gloves:  They are not required but will help keep the blisters away if the hitter is hitting a lot more than usual.
  7. Protective cups:  Baseball players are required to wear protective cups.
  8. Helmets:  We have helmets upon request but we do not supply them automatically.  We prefer no sharing of helmets.
  9. Catching gear:  We will supply catching gear for all teams that need it.  This includes the catchers mitt.
  10. Bats.  We have used bats but we do recommend you purchase your own bat.  We are working on bat requirements/restrictions and will post those soon or you can contact us with questions about bats.
  11. Socks.  We supply socks for softball but not baseball.  Ask your coach what color sock to purchase.  They typically match the color of the belt.
