How Does the Fall Draft Work?

How Does the Fall Draft Work?

The Fall is the official beginning of the year for Lyndon Recreation.  Players that age out of the league will start in their new league in the fall.  This is done to help prepare those players for the new league they will be playing in the spring.  So, the age group is based on the age group they athlete will participate in the spring season.  (We call it a draft but an actual draft does not take place)

Here are the steps for assigning players to teams in the fall ("The Draft")

  1. The Head Coach is Assigned.
  2. The Head Coaches child/children are assigned to the team.
  3. The Official Assistant Coach is appointed by the Head Coach.
  4. The Official Assistant Coaches child/children are assigned to the team.
  5. All returning players for that team are assigned once they register.
    1. Must be in the same league.  Players are not automatically assigned to a team that moves up an age group.
    2. Players/Parents may choose to NOT play for the coach and will not be added to the team in this case.
    3. If a returning player goes on the waiting list, that player is not guaranteed to be added as a returning player.
  6. Players are then added to the roster that have requested the Head Coach and/or requested a teammate that is assigned to the team.  (Allowed only in the fall, not the spring)
    1. Added based on registration dates (first-come first-served)
  7. If more players are still needed for a team, free agents will be added based on league assignment criteria such as pitching, catching and age)
  8. The goal is to stay at 12 players if at all possible.
  9. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COACH DOES NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO REQUEST PLAYERS ON HIS/HER TEAM.  IT MUST BE REQUESTED BY THE PARENTS.
  10. If a parent forgets or they change their mind concerning the coach or teammate they want to play for, they can just update their registration form on the website.
